Reza Nabavi, Ph.D.
Dr. Reza Nabavi (also called Dr. Reza) is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Los Angeles area who has over 15 years of clinical experience working with individuals and families suffering from alcohol and chemical dependency, problem gambling, sexual compulsivity, low self-esteem, mood and anxiety disorders, chronic mental illness, men’s issues, interpersonal problems, process addictions, and co-occurring disorders. His psychodynamic training does not limit his use of other modalities. Dr. Reza's integrative approach incorporates humanistic, family systems, and mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. Clients have described him as warm and empathic, while appreciating his honest and direct feedback as well. While long-term depth work can be valuable in terms of gaining important insight into one's self, not everyone has the luxury of being in therapy for years. Dr. Reza understands this and uses a strengths-based approach because he believes in empowering clients by teaching them practical and more effective coping skills that they can utilize on their own.
If you or a loved one is having emotional difficulties, struggling with substance abuse, process addiction, trauma, or other mental health issues, please call to request a consultation. Dr. Reza's Santa Monica office is conveniently located in the Westside, near Bel-Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, and West Los Angeles. He can arrange to see you in his private office or he will come to you for a comprehensive psychological evaluation, including a clinical interview and if necessary, cognitive, personality, and psychological testing. After conducting an initial assessment and determining the most appropriate treatment plan for each individual, Dr. Reza meets with clients for individual, couples, family, or group therapy (e.g., weekly process-oriented group for men facilitated by Dr. Reza). If he believes that another specialist would be a better fit, Dr. Reza will refer out to one of these outside therapists in order to better serve each client's unique needs. He also works with the most qualified physicians on the westside to assist with medication management and detoxification. If a higher level of care is necessary following the medical detox, recommendations for residential treatment centers will be made. Dr. Reza has had extensive experience in these areas, is well-connected to the treatment community, and can help to identify the strengths and weaknesses of most programs.
Dr. Reza is also the Founder and Executive Director of RESOLUTIONS Therapeutic Services in Santa Monica, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for the treatment of addiction, trauma, and co-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis). RESOLUTIONS is quietly becoming the premier outpatient program in the greater Los Angeles area, offering an individualized approach and evidence-based treatment. Staffed by licensed psychologists and board-certified psychiatrists who have all worked for respected treatment centers in the past, the RESOLUTIONS team offers a level of clinical depth and experience that is unparalleled among existing outpatient treatment programs.
Every RESOLUTIONS client receives a comprehensive psychological assessment and psychiatric evaluation. In addition to the strong western medical and scientific components, RESOLUTIONS incorporates eastern approaches such as mindfulness meditation and acupuncture to make it one if the most integrative and holistic approaches to the treatment of addiction, complex trauma and co-occurring disorders. With over 200 years of combined professional work experience, the RESOLUTIONS team also consists of case managers, life coaches, hypnotherapists, trauma specialists, a spiritual counselor, a licensed acupuncturist, a registered dietician, and a neurofeedback provider. Unlike other programs that offer only One approach using One model, RESOLUTIONS offers a wide clinical spectrum of treatment for a diverse population that is unique and poorly served by "One-size-fits-all" approaches.
Recommendations for nearby sober living homes will be made for those who are coming to RESOLUTIONS for drug or alcohol addiction and wish to live in a sober environment. Sober living is not a requirement to be enrolled in RESOLUTIONS, particularly for those who are coming in without a primary substance use disorder and wanting to focus more on their trauma, psychological disorders, or other mental health issues.
